What Are Dermal Fillers?
Along with Botox and laser therapy, dermal fillers are a major player in the world of aesthetic medicine. Dermal fillers are gel-like substances frequently used in cosmetic surgery. When injected under the skin they can successfully add volume and definition, plumping out skin to correct wrinkles, folds and depressions. At Neo Clinic we routinely use temporary dermal fillers, based around the natural substance hyaluronic acid. This is a safe, well-tolerated dermal filler substance that is naturally and reliably broken down by the body.
Are Dermal Fillers Safe?
Dermal fillers are a well-tolerated substance with a high safety profile and can be applied safely to most patients. Those with a history of previous reactions to dermal fillers or known allergies to any of the ingredients used will not be suitable for treatment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women as well as those with bleeding disorders and autoimmune disease are also not suitable.
Who Is Suitable For Non-Surgical Nose Job?
Patients with the following issues will benefit most from nose fillers:
- A mild to moderate bump on the bridge of the nose
- A slightly crooked or asymmetrical nose
- A hooked nose with a mild to moderate drooping of the nasal tip
- A small nose lacking definition and height
- Flared nostrils that require reduction
A non-surgical rhinoplasty will not change or reduce the overall size of your nose. Patients seeking more dramatic changes may be better suited to a surgical procedure.
How Can Dermal Fillers Be Used To Correct The Nose?
Light irregularities of the nose, either due to genetics, accidents, injury and even previous, unsuccessful surgeries, can be corrected using dermal fillers. A series of treatments typically 4-8 weeks apart are generally needed to reach the desired shape and size. Regular top-up treatments, typically every 12-18 months, will then be required to maintain these changes. The following corrections are most commonly performed using nose fillers:
Concealing A Hump In The Nose
Concealing a conspicuous nasal hump with nose filler is one of the most impressive results of non-surgical rhinoplasty. Rather than removing the nasal hump, something only achieved with surgery, the aim is to even the appearance of the hump. Using nose fillers either above and / or below the hump we can create a more uniform, inconspicuous appearance.
Correcting A Saddle Nose / Dent On The Bridge
A saddle nose, a nose with a significant groove in the bridge, can be a very prominent irregularity. In some cases, the bridge of the nose is almost completely missing with an extremely deep curve in the middle and upper area of the nose. The lack of volume can be corrected using dermal fillers to fill the groove or dent itself giving a natural, cohesive appearance.
Straightening A Crooked Nose
Nose fillers can compensate for nasal asymmetries with strategic filler placement. To straighten and conceal a visually crooked nose, a great deal of care and control is needed. Overzealous use of nose filler can further disrupt the balance of the nose and the face.
Lifting Or Smoothing The Tip Of The Nose
A nose tip that is too deep or drooping can easily be lifted with nose fillers. A furrowed tip or grooves and indentations on the tip of the nose can also be evened out.
When Can I Expect To See The Results From A Non Surgical Nose Job?
Patients are awake during the entire application process and results are visible immediately. The artistic precision of our skilled cosmetic surgeons means a change of just a few millimetres can have breath-taking results. Maximal results can be seen as early as one-week post-treatment, when swelling and redness is reduced. Results generally last around 6-18 months, depending on how quickly your body metabolises the nose filler. After this time, the treatment can be repeated if desired.
Will Results Look Natural?
The key to maintaining a natural look when it comes to any augmentation of the face, is to maintain true balance and harmony of the facial features as a whole. Our highly skilled dermal filler experts are trained to makes changes that fit with the natural frame of the face without losing proportions.
How Long Will Nose Fillers Last?
The dermal fillers we use at Neo are not permanent. In order to maintain the desired shape, regular top up treatments will therefore be required. Regular applications will stimulate the growth of collagen and connective tissue fibres, resulting in a slight increase in the natural volume of the nose. As a result, the longevity of the results after each repeated touch-up will increase and intervals between refresher treatments can be up to two years.
Can I Have Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty If I Have Previously Had Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Yes, nose fillers can be used to resolve small imperfections that were not previously corrected with rhinoplasty surgery. We recommend patients wait a minimum of 12 months after surgery before any further treatment is considered. This allows swelling to reduce, whilst also giving you time to adjust to your new appearance.
Is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Painful?
Overall, patients only experience a mild level of pain or discomfort at the time of the application. Areas of mild bruising and redness may occur with some degree of swelling, but this normally subsides 24-48 hours post treatment. Sensitivity and tenderness at the application area is also to be expected. We advise patients to refrain from wearing sunglasses or heavy eyewear for up to two weeks post-treatment to avoid unnecessary pressure on the nose that can also affect the outcome of the procedure.
Why Should I Chose Non-Surgical Over Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Many patients opt for non-surgical rhinoplasty over traditional surgical methods due to the considerable reduction in downtime and recovery period. Apprehensions about “going under the knife” are also leading more patients to choose non-surgical, minimally invasive procedures, that often yield similar results.
In addition, your face will naturally change over time, with ageing and fluctuations in weight. The non-permanent nature of non-surgical rhinoplasty means we can continue to follow your natural appearance, adjusting applications over time.
