What is a Hydrafacial?
A Hydrafacial is a multi-step, non-laser skin resurfacing treatment that improves the skin texture and tone, whilst providing a direct application of hydrating and moisturising serums.
This non-invasive procedure uses a combination of hydra-dermabrasion, a gentle exfoliation using simply pressurised water and oxygen, and a mild, vacuuming effect to extract impurities, excess oil and sebum. This non-abrasive approach makes it particularly well suited to those with sensitive yet oily skin.
The hydra-dermabrasion effectively removes the top layer of damaged, dead skin cells, whilst simultaneously unblocking pores. A bespoke, concentrated serum of target agents, such as antioxidants, vitamins and hyaluronic acid, is then directly applied to the freshly cleansed area.
What Are The Benefits Of A Hydrafacial?
The Hydrafacial treatment is an all-rounder treatment when it comes to targeting a range of skin issues, from dull complexion to acne. Patients will notice an overall improvement in the texture of the skin, as well the tone and overall appearance. The customisation of the serum applied also allows specific areas, such as blemishes, dark spots or fine lines and wrinkles, to be targeted directly.
HydraFacial’s are also fast and efficient. The minimal downtime as well as the quick treatment session of approximately 30 minutes, make this an ideal skin rejuvenation treatment.
Is A Hydrafacial Painful?
A Hydrafacial is a very gentle procedure with only a mild tugging effect felt from the vacuuming motion. Unlike other skin resurfacing techniques, there is no need for needles, injectables, lasers or harsh abrasives. Patients may experience a tightness of the skin with slight redness for some hours after treatment. The non-invasive, gentle approach also makes it ideal for delicate areas, such as around the eyes and neck.
Can Hydrafacial Treat Acne?
When used regularly as part of a routine treatment, a Hydrafacial is a particularly effective treatment for managing and preventing acne and breakouts. The vacuum technology physically draws out whiteheads (closed comedones) and black heads (open comedones) to unblock pores, whilst the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of the serums used provide a deep cleanse not comparable to any manual technique. We recommend a treatment every 3-4 weeks for maximal results.
Who is Suitable for a Hydrafacial?
Due to its mild, non-invasive, non-abrasive technology, a Hydrafacial can be used on all skin types, including sensitive and ageing skin. With treatments as short as 15 minutes and with zero downtime, a Hydrafacial is becoming a popular lunchtime cosmetic procedure.
We do not recommend the treatment for patients who are suffering from active rashes and skin infections or those with sunburnt skin. Pregnant patients are also advised against this treatment.
