Treatments/PRP Therapy

PRP therapy is a very popular and innovative treatment for rejuvenation of the face, neck, decollate and scalp. The treatment has been praised for its ability to rejuvenate and refresh the skin providing an enhanced complexion. PRP therapy is particularly successful in achieving a more rejuvenated and fresher complexion as a result of its ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production. The use of your own PRP ensures natural growth factors are re-injected into the skin which aids rejuvenation and ensures optimal healing. Collagen and elastin are extremely important as we begin to age, and they naturally begin to decrease as we get older. Decreased collagen and elastin production leads to the development of fine lines and wrinkles and the skin becomes lax. This treatment encourages collagen and elastin production, this ensures the skin remains youthful and firm despite the process of ageing.

In addition to promoting youthful and firmer skin, PRP therapy has proven an effective treatment for a variety of other skin concerns including scarring, hyperpigmentation and sunspots/sun damage. As PRP therapy promotes rapid cell turnover as a result of its ability to cause controlled injury encouraging the body’s natural healing process, this makes it an effective treatment to combat these other skin concerns as the new cell turnover repairs and rejuvenates the skin.

It is recommended that clients engage in a course of three treatments in order to achieve optimal results. It is also important to remember that results may differ between clients as a result of natural collagen production and your body’s natural healing process therefore each result should be viewed individually, and this may be a more effective treatment for some clients rather than others.

PRP therapy is frequently performed on the face to promote a more rejuvenated and youthful complexion as well as addressing a variety of other concerns. However, PRP therapy is also a very effective treatment for hair loss. PRP therapy uses the clients own PRP to stimulate hair growth and encourage healthier and thicker hair. PRP therapy for hair loss is a very popular treatment as it offers a non-surgical alternative to promote and encourage hair growth. In a similar way to PRP on the face, blood is drawn from the client, this is then processed and separated. The beneficial elements are then injected into the scalp in the areas that require increased hair growth. The PRP contains essential growth factors which encourages healthy hair growth when injected into the scalp. As the PRP is injected, it successfully stimulates any inactive or newly implanted hair follicles into an active growth phase. PRP for hair is most effective to treat thinning hair, to promote growth following a hair transplant and also to delay or stop hair loss. For the most effective results from PRP for hair growth, we recommend 3 sessions.

PRP therapy can be an effective treatment for ageing but also a variety of other skin concerns. PRP has been show as an effective treatment for hyperpigmentation, acne scarring and sun damage. PRP will ensure a more youthful and refreshed complexion by stimulating collagen and elastin production through a method of controlled injury to the face.

During PRP therapy, blood is extracted from the client. Following this, the blood is then processed using a centrifuge machine. This allows our NEO Health Clinic nurse practitioners to extract PRP from whole blood. The concentrated PRP solution can then be injected into different areas of the face in order to promote collagen production and stimulate the body’s natural healing process. This is designed to rejuvenate the skin and encourage increased elastin production in the skin leading to a refreshed and more youthful complexion.

Following PRP therapy, the recovery time is usually around 4-6 weeks. After this time, optimal results should be noticeable however the area should not be in any pain or be causing any discomfort. For the first few days after treatment the face may be quite red and irritated however this will begin to alleviate as the body’s natural healing process takes over.
