The natural boarder of the upper lip has a very slightly raised edge that reflects light giving it the name “the white roll”. As we age, the definition of this ridge is lost. With targeted and very precise lip filler injections, we can accentuate the upper lip boarder and restore the natural curl.
The key to achieving natural lip fillers is to keep the relationship between the upper lip and the lower in balance with each other, as well as with the rest of the face. Some patients with strong facial features can naturally carry large, voluptuous lips. Others with smaller, delicate features will look over enhanced if too much lip filler is used.
Dermal fillers are a well-tolerated substance with a high safety profile, and they can safely be used on most patients. Those not suitable for dermal fillers include those with a history of reactions to dermal fillers, those with bleeding disorders, those who are pregnant or breast feeding and those with known allergies to any of the ingredients in the filler used.
